Hello
Very good web page. I was looking for sth like this some time ago. But not anymore.
Since 12th of June I am CPIM certified. All 5 exams in 3 months – that is why I was looking for summaries like this.
I used self study materials, exam simulator, flash cards, dictionary, old tests.
I am sure that your site will help many people to prepare better for exams.
In the APICS Learning System for CPIM, they make it incredibly confusing. Here’s an example question:
What is the best manufacturing environment for a hydraulic press? – The issue here is that they’re not asking me to speak to my knowledge of manufacturing environments. If I don’t know what a hydraulic press is, then I can’t possibly answer the question. What are they testing me on here??
A company has 100,000 units on hand and uses 100,000 units annually. How many days of supply does the company have? A) 365 B) 250…. In a previous question, they used 250 days per year, which is the number of work days. In this problem, they use 365 days per year. Looking at the literal APICS curriculum on Days of Supply, they always give you the usage PER DAY, not ANNUALLY, so you don’t have to guess whether you are to use 365 days or 250 days. Regardless, the resulting choices include results for both, using 365 days, and 250 days. What are you testing me on? If I know how many days there are in a year, depending on the question? APICS doesn’t know what they’re doing.
Finally, they have flash cards that have definitions:
– Profit Margin = the difference between sales and COGS.
– Gross Margin = the difference between revenue and COGS.
In one of their quiz questions, the available choice was Gross Profit Margin, and the rationale was that “in this context, profit margin = gross profit margin”…
Thankfully the people who developed the learning material did not create the exam. Nevertheless, I’m super sick and tired of spending energy on poorly created training! I’m so glad I found your site, even though I’m taking the new version, Part 1 and Part 2.
